Locks are deterrents only. The best way to prevent theft is to not to leave your bike unattended. Cable locks are lighter but easier to cut. D locks are heavier but more secure.

If you plan on walking in your cycling shoes, go for a mountain bike system rather than a road design. Try to get your cleats professionally installed if possible to avoid injury.
Alloy barrels care more durable than plastic ones. Given equivalent quality, a full length frame fit pump is faster for inflating high pressure tyres than mini pump. A pressure gauge isn’t always necessary, but can be helpful if you only have one pump. Dual or smart head pumps are the most convenient to use.
